WHAT IS PBIS?
PBIS is an organizational framework designed to provide a multi-tiered continuum of effective supports to all students to promote positive academic and social/behavioral outcomes for all students. This framework has been developed by national experts in the field of PBIS over many years and includes four core features: systems, data, practices and outcomes.
PBIS Maine supports districts, schools and community-based organizations in developing sustainable systems of evidence-based practices that promote the behavioral, social-emotional and academic growth of all children.
We do this by:
Promoting and adhering to the Association for Positive Behavior Supports’ (APBS) Standards of Practice
Organizing practices within a multi-tiered continuum of preventative interventions and supports
Supporting comprehensive, high-fidelity, systems-level implementation
Providing professional development and technical assistance
Providing access to data systems that support school use of evidence-based practices
Evaluating the fidelity and outcomes of systems of positive behavior supports
Promoting policies that effectively support the needs of all students
